Tom Matzzie - Founder & CEO

Tom Matzzie is Founder and CEO of Ethical Electric. For more than a dozen years Tom built big online communities for social impact causes that disrupted incumbents in the space. His work developed innovations that today are best practices—pioneering online civic engagement. He is a widely recognized expert in his field. The New York Times Magazine profiled Tom’s work with calling him "a rising star." He has raised more than $150 million online from millions of cause-related donors in $5 and $10 chunks.

Tom continues to advise causes and companies in the social impact sector and he serves on the board of the Community Power Network—a network of community-scale renewable energy groups. In addition to pulling together the Ethical Electric team, Tom will apply his deep experience building online audiences to the customer acquisition program.

Jim Wiseman - EVP, CFO & Wholesale

Jim Wiseman is EVP, CFO & Wholesale of Ethical Electric. Jim has over 20 years of experience with successful and well-known publicly-traded companies such as LightSquared/SkyTerra, MicroStrategy and Discovery as well as several startup businesses. Jim has participated in significant fund raising activities, including over $3 billion in complex financial instruments as well as successful M&A activities that includes the take-private sale of SkyTerra at an enterprise value of $1.85 billion. Jim has directly supervised international businesses and finance teams in Europe, Canada, Asia and Latin America; teams have ranged in size from sixteen to sixty-five. Jim’s experiences, including seven years with Arthur Andersen, allow him to be hands-on with respect to financial reporting and taxation. Jim has managed extensive ERP, FP&A and BI systems implementations leveraging such systems to provide timely and accurate metrics, insights and business intelligence to executive teams.

Jim can be found studying the tables of the English Premier League, being defeated by his oldest son at FIFA 13, watching DC United (he is a season ticket holder) and racing remote control short course trucks (specifically - Traxxas Slash 2WD) on clay tracks with his youngest son. Jim enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, exercise and keeping up with technical innovation. Jim has also been known to build a computer or two from scratch, including his desktop at Ethical!


Tom Crowder - CMO

Tom Crowder is Chief Marketing Officer for Ethical Electric.  Over the course of his career, Tom has worked across a wide range of industries from telecom to financial to travel and tourism.  Tom was Vice President of Marketing at Verizon where he helped launch Verizon’s bundle solutions for residential customers. And he worked at J. Walter Thompson and other advertising agencies where his programs were recognized by national advertising organizations and included in Advertising Age magazine's best TV commercials list.  Tom is an avid traveler and he can often be found hiking.  When he’s lucky, it’s in Patagonia or Bhutan.


Richard Graves - Co-founder & VP, Corporate & Business Development

Richard joined Ethical Electric as a veteran of online organizing, clean energy entrepreneurship, and mission-related investing. The founder of the Fired Up and OPEN funds, he served as VP of Project Finance for Solar Mosaic, the Online Organizer for the Webby-nominated, 17 million person TckTckTck campaign and as an angel investor in and board member to startups, such as Skyline Innovations, Faraday Bicycles, and He graduated from the Center for Progressive Leadership's Executive Fellowship and the NextGen Fellowship in Mission Related Investing, as well as Macalester College, where he developed the first student-led Clean Energy Revolving Fund. He also has been known to collect and use cooking equipment from around the world and might just make you something, if you ask nicely.


Daniel Murray - VP, Data Services

Before joining Ethical Electric, Daniel served as the Finance Data Manager for President Obama's re-election campaign in Chicago. A native of Hermitage, TN, he has worked on dozens of campaigns all around the South, working to bridge the gap between technology and politics.


Paul St. Louis - VP, Operations

Prior to joining Ethical Electric, Paul spent over 20 years in the energy industry, holding leadership positions with well-known companies such as Hess, Sunoco, Southern Company and Direct Energy.  He has spent the last 13 years helping develop solutions for commercial and residential customers in deregulated energy markets across the US and Canada.

Paul recently served on the board of Life Transitions Plus, Inc., a non-profit helping people with mental disabilities achieve a meaningful life in the community.  When not at work, Paul is likely to be found spending time with his wife, two sons, and three cats.  He is usually reading at least two books at any given time, and has spent the last few years learning to play the drums and hoping the Foo Fighters need a drummer.


Matt Browner-Hamlin - Managing Director, Digital Strategy

Matt comes to Ethical Electric with a deep background in digital campaigning in the progressive movement. Matt founded while working as Senior Economic Strategist at Citizen Engagement Lab, served in a leadership role in the new media department at the Service Employees International Union, was the Deputy Internet Director of Chris Dodd's presidential campaign and the Internet Director of Mark Begich's US Senate campaign. He has also been an active blogger and contributing writer at the Huffington Post and, among numerous other outlets. Matt serves on the international board of directors of Students for a Free Tibet and is an advisor to the Web of Change conference. He's a fan of fine wines and adventure sports.


Bridget Hill-Zayat - Managing Director, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance

Bridget Hill-Zayat is the Managing Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance for Ethical Electric. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors in Comparative Politics and a Masters in Public Administration. Bridget is also a graduate of Rutgers Law Camden where she earned a JD.  For the last seven years Bridget worked as an attorney for several large firms in their insurance and annuities sections. She clerked for Governor Jack Markell of Delaware focusing on legislative law and the roles of the boards and commissions within the state. In her free time she likes to knit and garden with varying degrees of success.


Matty Guerin - Marketing Channel Manager

Matty is a seasoned multi-channel marketer, bringing Ethical Electric nearly two decades of experience working for or on behalf of dozens of progressive national non-profit organizations. Though he grew up in a family that regularly made outdoor excursions, it wasn’t until he went to Rensselaer Ploytechnic Institute to study Environmental Engineering that he began playing an activist role in the conservation movement, and he hasn’t slowed since then. Some of the organizations for whom he has provided expertise and guidance include The Wilderness Society, The Sierra Club, The League of Conservation Voters, Natural Resource Defense Council and Greenpeace, USA.

When he is not working to protect the environment, Matty likes to get out and enjoy it. His favorite activities are hiking, camping and passing on an appreciation of and respect for nature to his 8 year old (and his 1 year old Belgian Malinois).


Christy Nagle - Marketing Channel Manager

Christy entered the progressive movement as a field organizer for a US Senate campaign in 2010 while still attending Elon University. After achieving a double major in Political Science and International Studies, Christy moved to Washington, DC to join the campaigns team at the League of Conservation Voters. She spent the last cycle deep in the environmental movement, performing research on candidates, campaigns and messaging tactics important to the environmental community. Christy provided numerous swing-district candidates with environmental messaging directives specific to their constituents' opinions, helping many to realize that their constituents are actually supporters of some of the most powerful and controversial environmental policies. Christy also has a strong background in non-profit compliance, filing tens of millions of dollars worth of campaign activity with the FEC in 2012. Christy is excited to broaden her messaging skills and to help power more homes than ever before with clean power.


Charlie Russell - Finance & Operations Manager

Charlie, a graduate of Vanderbilt University, is committed to using the financial and analytical skills he honed while studying economics, finance, and business during his academic career to build sustainable business solutions to social and environmental problems. After leaving Nashville in 2011, Charlie spent a year working for both DC Solar United Neighborhoods (a District based solar advocacy group), and Sol Systems (a boutique solar energy financial firm), where he co-headed a joint solar bulk purchase program, and developed solar market leading crowdfunding and RFP platforms, respectively. Charlie joined the Ethical team in late 2011. As a Business Analyst, he managed all financial forecasting, analysis, and reporting through the company’s initial capital raise, and he continues to lend financial and administrative support in the daily operations of the business.


Justin Catches - Member Services Manager

Justin Catches joined Ethical Electric fresh from working as a Field Organizer with Organizing For America, President Barack Obama's grassroots team, where he managed a field office and volunteers in rural Iowa. Justin holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University, an MS in Biology from Georgia Southern University, and a BS in Zoology from the University of Florida. He's a scientist at heart, but Justin left the lab to help bring progressive social change through activism and his work with Ethical Electric. He's an avid runner and a fan of all Gator sports.


Meghan Tighe - Salesforce Administrator

Meghan joins Ethical Electric following previous stints tailoring and streamlining the databases of Clean Currents, the American Wind Wildlife Institute, and a campaign defending the EPA's carbon rule on coal-fired power plants. She has a degree in Economics and Environmental Studies from the College of the Holy Cross, where she also led the student effort to lower both the college and the country's carbon emissions. She enjoys cooking farm-to-table meals, completing sprint triathlons, and talking clean energy.


Amanda Leonardi - Quality Control Analyst

Amanda joins the Ethical Electric team after working in the mortgage industry for the last year. She attended Rutgers University-Camden where she worked with non-profits focusing on education and community development in urban environments. During her time in college she also spent time studying and volunteering abroad. In her spare time Amanda is an avid distance runner and endurance athlete who likes to use these avenues to give back to the local community and our veterans.


Seth Kaye - Clean Energy Associate

Seth is a progressive movement activist and techie. While at Ethical Electric, he has worked on database projects, set up a call center, designed, and does energy market and legal research. Before that he ran social media for the Progressive Change Campaign Committee to help elect Senator Elizabeth Warren. During his time at the University of Virginia, Seth was very active outside his Computer Science classrooms working for social justice. Seth handled all things digital for the Living Wage Campaign at UVA earning a modest wage increase for University workers by gaining national media attention for a 2 week student hunger-strike. He also lead his campus LGBTQ Equality group for 3 years putting on events and advocating for curriculum and policy change. He loves few things more than a good #hashtag. Aimee Nguyen - Finance and Operations Associate

Aimee joined Ethical Electric as a recent Virginia Tech graduate.  Her educational background and work experience are both law and business-related, and she has enhanced her marketing and communications abilities through actively volunteering with organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
